prophets (with the exception of Isaiah) took a dim view of kings
Kings were to rule according to God and obey His guidance - too often they had failed (Ezek. 34:1-31)
Yet the image of a king figures into hopes for the future, especially messianic hopes
Cultus
Condemn improper cult (i.e., directed to other gods [Jer. 2:4-13, Hos. 11:2] or not including just treatment of fellow human beings [Amos 5:21-24])
Look to a purified cult which demonstrates commitment and faithfulness to God
Wisdom
Prophets have same excellent use of language as wise men and share much of the same vocabulary
Difference is that the prophets speak word of God while wise men pass on the word they have received from predecessors
