VULGATE - the translation of the Hebrew Bible, Apocrypha, and New Testament into Latin. Although Jerome's name is typically associated with the Vulgate, he was not the first to translate biblical texts into Latin nor did he translate the entire Apocrypha or New Testament into Latin. Yet Jerome was a brilliant translator and interpreter and his name has traditionally been associated with the Vulgate. The Vulgate was revised in the mid 20th century according to the Hebrew and Greek texts and the Neo-Vulgate was published in 1979.
