| Hero takes family and animals along with relatives,
gold, silver, craftsmen, and boatmen |
Noah takes only his immediate family and a
pair of each animal (seven pairs of clean animals) |
| Gods are fearful of the flood |
God is not afraid of the flood but is in complete
control |
| When the hero offers a sacrifice, the gods swarm around
it like flies hungrily devouring it since they have had no food |
God smells the seet odor of the sacrifice
(and Noah's obedience) but does not have to eat |
| Hero and his wife are granted immortality |
Noah and his wife are blessed and told to
continue the human species but they are not given immortality |
| Rainbow reminds the goddess Ishtar never to flood the
earth again but not the god Enlil who sent the flood - it might happen again |
Rainbow reminds God who sent the flood
