Yarmuk River

Yarmuk River

The Yarmuk River is a small but perennial river that lies near the modern border of Syria and Jordan. In biblical times the Yarmuk River was just north of the border between Bashan and Gilead. The Yarmuk River is the main tributary of the Jordan River flowing into it about 4 miles south of the Sea of Galilee. The area around the Yarmuk River is very fertile and that plus the continuous availability of water have caused the area to be settled since prehistoric times.
